Burns Blurbs

To all,
We successfully poured the walls for all three homes today...............
A special thanks to all who came out, and participated in what I understand to be a historic event........ The 100th Habitat for Humanity of Chester County will also be one of the first three homes to be built literally from the ground up.
There were only a couple of minor adjustments, and from the people who manufactured and provided the wall system, "it was as good as they have seen". Congratulations to everyone who helped to make this a reality. An fantastic job indeed.......
More on next week later in the weekend....

Burns Blurbs

To all,
We will not be pouring the walls on Tuesday. While we got a great many of the little things done this past week, however there are still more than can be completed in time to pour the walls on Tuesday.
The Reward Walls' factory rep will be on site Monday to go over our work and make any recommendations or suggestions he feels are necessary for a trouble free pour. Once I have his recommendations (if any) or suggestions, I'll compile those with the remaining things I know need to be completed, along with the check list items and Monday evening send out a note outlining what remains and how we'll get them completed. I'm still hopeful we can pour late in the week, however We only have one chance to get this right, and we'll have it right before we pour. More tomorrow evening.............
I would like this portion passed on to all those who will not get this email directly.
This adventure (using the Reward Wall System) has been challenging, but as the name implies rewarding. I would like to take a moment thank everyone, from the Habitat staff, Habitat Board of Directors, Church leadership, volunteer coordinators, lunch makers and the volunteers themselves, who have stepped up and met each challange with enthusiasm, hard work and a great spirit. I try to thank everyone at the site personally at the end on each day for their participation, but I don't believe anyone fully understands what this represents. We are well underway to building three Habitat houses, literly, from the ground up.........
As I sit here pausing in thought (I know no one believes that), it truely is overwhelming. Thank you all

Burns Blurbs

To all,

There is not a lot of work remaining to be done to be ready to pour the walls....... We'll no doubt finish it by Friday. I have spoken to Kitty, and she is going to reduce her force for Saturday. If there are others in the your groups that would like to have Saturday for other things, by all means, have them do so. I will obtain some of the lumber to begin fabricating the window and door headers, for those who arrive Saturday, but there isn't much else we can do.............

I expect to schedule the walls to be poured, hopefully Tuesday next week. Once confirmed we're a go, I'll let everyone know so we can recruit a few men to help with the pour........

Once the walls are poured, possibly Friday or the following Monday the floors will be poured. That means, we get our drainage inspection and we can begin to fill in the foundation and begin decking...................

Will keep everyone informed as it all happens........
